Equipment¶
This page is a placeholder pending the equipment OOB build for the Kaiserreich.
Detailed equipment treatment for the Imperial Armed Forces — service rifle, IFV and MBT family, naval vessels by class, fixed-wing aircraft, rotary-wing, and support systems — will be drafted once the Kaiserreich's OOB data is generated under data/oobs/leipzisch_kaiserreich/ and the equipment catalog at data/equipment/leipzisch_kaiserreich.json is populated.
In the interim, the following high-level descriptions apply:
Small arms¶
The Imperial Service Rifle (the empire's standard 5.56mm or 7.62mm carbine, TBD) is produced by Kaiserliche Munitionsfabriken (KMF). The empire fields a fully-modernized small arms suite; specific weapon designations and the service-rifle modernization timeline are pending Barry's specification.
Vehicles¶
- Main battle tank — produced by Drachenwerke; OFBN-standard chassis (third generation); license-produced in Velicuse and the Eurekan Commonwealth
- Infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) — Drachenwerke; standard Heer mechanized infantry mount
- Wheeled armored personnel carrier — secondary mechanization, particularly for the Marineinfanterie and home defense formations
- Self-propelled artillery — 155mm howitzer family
- Rocket artillery — separate formations; tube and rocket artillery doctrinally integrated
Naval vessels¶
Built by Königswerft at the Königswasser shipyards. Surface combatants (destroyers, frigates, corvettes), attack submarines (diesel-electric AIP), amphibious lift (LPD/LST), and auxiliaries. Specifics in the Navy page.
Aircraft¶
Produced by Adlerwerke at the Westmark facilities. Air superiority, multirole, dedicated CAS, tactical reconnaissance, transport, and rotary-wing. Specifics in the Luftwaffe page.
Defense industrial base¶
The Kaiserreich's defense industrial complex includes:
| Firm | Specialty |
|---|---|
| Drachenwerke | Main battle tanks, IFVs, military trucks, armored vehicle family |
| Königswerft | Naval construction; surface and subsurface |
| Adlerwerke | Military aircraft, aero-engines |
| Kaiserliche Munitionsfabriken (KMF) | Small arms, ammunition, artillery shells |
| Reichswerke für Elektrotechnik (RWE) | Military electronics, radar, communications, electronic warfare |
The defense industrial base is one of the empire's strategic strengths and a significant export sector — Leipzan equipment is sold across OFBN, into the WDP coalition (since the Continuation War mobilized cross-bloc procurement), and into the broader Western and Sierran arms trade.
Equipment philosophy¶
Leipzan equipment design philosophy is conservative and incremental: prioritize reliability, ease of maintenance, and operability by conscript-quality personnel; accept somewhat lower per-unit performance for higher serviceability rates and lower training burden. The empire's equipment is generally considered the most maintainable in the OFBN suite (the Velian alternative tends toward higher-performance but more demanding designs).
This philosophy reflects the empire's reliance on conscript reserve mobilization in wartime — equipment that requires extensive operator training is a poor fit for a force that will rapidly expand by activating reservists who have been out of uniform for years.
Full equipment treatment forthcoming with the OOB build. Specific weapon designations, vehicle nomenclature, naval class names, and aircraft type designations to be set by Barry per Brassican lore canon.
