The Federated States of Arcadia is the principal Western power of Sierra and the dominant geopolitical actor of the planet of Europa. A democratic federal republic born in the late 19th century from the wreckage of the Volnian Empire's colonial holdings, the FSA emerged through the Continental Wars (1890–1972) as the world's leading military, economic, and technological power. Today it leads the Western Defense Pact (WDP) and is the principal Western belligerent in both the Continuation War (2026–) and the Volnian Civil War (2025–).

Predominantly Thumbrian ethnically, with significant Volnian-mixed populations in the southern provinces and small Gorlish and Vorseyjan minorities along the northern and eastern margins, Arcadia is regionally diverse without being globally heterogeneous. Its civic identity is constitutional and territorial — citizens of the federation share allegiance to the federal compact rather than a single ethnic origin.

Strategic posture

Arcadia is the status-quo power of the post-1972 international order. The FSA underwrote the Treaty of Chartania, hosts and funds the International Court, and remains the principal guarantor of the rules-based order across Sierra and the Hesperian / Endorin Ocean theaters.

  2. Forward defense of WDP allies (Gorlund, Volnia, Aegira)
  3. Sea control of the Hesperian and Endorin Oceans
  4. Maintenance of the Outer Space Demilitarization Protocols
  5. Deterrence of the Kingdom of Choktovakia

Current conflicts

  • Continuation War (2026–) — active combatant against DPR Rakutania and CSAT, operating in support of the Republic of Gorlund.
  • Volnian Civil War (2025–) — military advisory and direct support to the VIAF; CSG-2 (FSS Arcadia) was severely damaged by a CSAT bomber raid.

Foreign policy posture

Arcadia is a lead-from-the-front democratic hegemon — willing to project force in defense of allies, but operating through institutions (WDP, International Court, AEC) wherever possible. The FSA prefers coalition operations to unilateral action and has historically maintained extensive forward-basing networks across friendly states.
