The Federation Army (FS Army) is the principal ground-warfare service of the Federated States Armed Forces.

Modernization

The Army is in the middle of a next-generation small-arms rollout: the M16A5 service rifle (M16A4 receiver with full-auto and collapsible buttstock) is being progressively replaced by the M7 (Next-Generation Squad Weapon program), and the M240L GPMG by the M250. The program is rolling out brigade-by-brigade and will run through the late 2020s.

The Army is also the lead service for Anduril-/Shield-AI-class autonomous platform trials in tactical reconnaissance, loitering munitions, and counter-UAS roles. These systems are not yet at production scale but are being fielded experimentally with select formations.

Force structure

The FS Army is organized into three field armies that each command multiple corps. Active divisions number ten, with varied types (armored, infantry, Stryker, airborne, air assault, mountain).
