Royal Choktovakian Army¶
The Royal Choktovakian Army (Korolyevskaya Choktovakiyskaya Armiya) is the senior land service of the Royal Armed Forces and the country's principal ground combat force. Approximately 340,000 active personnel under arms; mobilised strength on full reserve activation contributes the bulk of the Royal Armed Forces' ~1,480,000 wartime ceiling.
The Royal Choktovakian Army is the largest peer-tier modern land force on Europa — broadly comparable in capability to the Federation Army of Arcadia, and substantially superior in armoured-formation density to any other Sierran ground force. Its distinctive features include the mass T-14 Armata fleet (the largest fourth-generation tank fleet on Europa), the Royal Airborne Corps and Royal Air-Assault Corps (together approximately 60,000 elite mobile-reserve personnel), and the constitutionally-distinct Royal Guard.
Organisation¶
The Royal Choktovakian Army is organised around four geographic Military Districts plus three independent commands reporting through the Royal General Staff:
- Four permanent Military Districts — territorial-defence commands, each comprising one or more numbered Armies plus supporting elements
- The Royal Airborne Corps — three airborne divisions; the country's strategic-level air-drop reserve
- The Royal Air-Assault Corps — two air-assault divisions plus independent brigades; the operational-depth helicopter-borne force
- The Royal Guard Corps — constitutional formation reporting to the Crown; operationally subordinated under Central Military District
- Royal Army Aviation Command — attack, transport, and reconnaissance helicopter forces
- The Royal Strategic Forces Command (RSFC) — joint command for the conventional Iskander tactical-ballistic-missile force (see Armed Forces)
The Military Districts¶
| Military District | Headquarters | Principal mission |
|---|---|---|
| Western Military District | Stepnograd | The steppe frontier; the principal heavy-armour garrison; the Black Mountain and CSAT axes |
| Central Military District | Krovar | Strategic reserve; capital defence; the Royal Guard; air-defence headquarters |
| Northern Military District | Severgrad | Northern Fleet support; arctic operations; the Polnoch sector |
| Eastern Military District | Tovargrad | Eastern Fleet support; the Hinomuran and Pelwan littoral; the eastern airspace |
Western Military District¶
The largest of the four Districts by personnel and the heaviest by equipment. Built around the I Western Army "Steppe Shield" at Stepnograd, it contains the bulk of the country's mass-armour formations:
- 1st Guards Tank Army — multiple armoured and mechanised divisions equipped with T-14 Armata, BMP-3M, and Pandur II 8×8; the principal western heavy-armour force
- 1st Combined Arms Army "Volograd" — mechanised and armoured divisions; the western combined-arms manoeuvre force
- Western Front Artillery Brigade — 2S35 Koalitsiya self-propelled howitzers and Tornado-S MLRS
- Western Front Air Defence Brigade — S-400 Triumf, Buk-M3, and Pantsir-S2
The Western District's mission is the principal land-defence of the western steppe frontier against the Black Mountain Protectorate and, beyond it, the CSAT axis. The District's heavy-armour concentration is the institutional response to the 1991 Black Mountain rebellion and the doctrinal expression of the assumption that any major future land war on Europa will be armour-on-armour.
Central Military District¶
The strategic reserve and capital-defence District, headquartered at Krovar. The Central District's principal formations are:
- The Royal Guard Corps — see below
- II Central Army "Capital Reserve" — heavy armour, airborne, and air-assault available for any theatre; includes the Strategic Armoured Brigade (T-14 Armata priority allocation), the Strategic Artillery Brigade (BM-30 Smerch and conventional Iskander), and the Strategic Air Defence Brigade (S-500 and S-400)
Central District also hosts the headquarters of the Royal Airborne Corps and the Royal Air-Assault Corps (which are independently subordinated to the Royal General Staff but draw on Central District infrastructure).
Northern Military District¶
The arctic-specialist District, headquartered at Severgrad. Smaller than Western, optimised for cold-weather and littoral operations supporting the Northern Fleet:
- III Northern Army — combined arms with arctic specialisation
- Northern Mountain / Boreal Brigade — DT-30 "Vityaz" articulated tracked carrier capable; the country's principal over-snow infantry
- Northern Coastal Defence Brigade — coastal anti-shipping missile batteries plus infantry; Bal-E and Bastion-P
- Polnoch Garrison Brigade — the far-northern garrison securing the Polnoch forward submarine base
- Northern Front Air Defence Brigade
Eastern Military District¶
The eastern-littoral District, headquartered at Tovargrad. Combined-arms formations supporting the Eastern Fleet:
- IV Eastern Army — modern combined-arms; Pelwan littoral defence
- Eastern Mechanised Divisions — two to three line divisions equipped with BMP-3M, Pandur II 8×8, and T-14 Armata
- Eastern Coastal Defence Brigade — Bal-E and Bastion-P coastal AShM
- Eastern Front Artillery Brigade
The Royal Airborne Corps¶
The Royal Airborne Corps (Korolyevskiy Vozdushno-Desantnyy Korpus) is the country's strategic-level air-drop reserve — approximately 30,000 personnel in three airborne divisions, headquartered in Central MD and held in central readiness for rapid deployment to any theatre:
| Division | Specialisation |
|---|---|
| 1st Airborne Division "Krov" | Parachute-qualified; rapid-deployment ready; the senior division and the formation most closely associated with the Crown |
| 2nd Airborne Division "Severnaya" | Parachute-qualified; cold-weather specialty; primary reserve for the Northern theatre |
| 3rd Airborne Division "Vostochnaya" | Parachute-qualified; eastern-theatre orientation; primary reserve for the Eastern District |
The Royal Airborne Corps is among the largest airborne forces on Europa. Service in the Airborne Corps is intensely competitive; the divisions draw the highest quality of volunteer service and provide a disproportionate share of the senior leadership of the broader Army officer corps.
The Royal Air-Assault Corps¶
The Royal Air-Assault Corps (Korolyevskiy Desantno-Shturmovoy Korpus) is the helicopter-borne operational-depth force — approximately 30,000 personnel in two air-assault divisions plus independent brigades for theatre-specific missions:
- 4th Air-Assault Division — heliborne; Western MD support
- 5th Air-Assault Division — heliborne; Eastern MD support
- Independent Air-Assault Brigades — theatre-specific missions; flexible allocation under Royal General Staff direction
Together with the Airborne Corps, the two elite mobile-reserve corps total approximately 60,000 personnel — one of the largest elite-reserve concentrations on Europa, and the foundation of the Royal Army's strategic-response capability.
The Royal Guard Corps¶
The Royal Guard of Choktovakia (Korolyevskaya Gvardiya) is both a ceremonial institution and a fully-operational military formation, reporting directly to the Crown and operationally subordinated under Central MD. The Guard's establishment dates to the 1523 founding; its modern role combines:
- The Royal Foot Guards Regiment — ceremonial protection of the Crown and the royal residences; one of the most recognisable symbols of the modern monarchy; uniformed in patterns drawn from the 1523 founding-era state guard
- The Guards Mechanized Division — a fully-operational heavy mechanised formation, garrisoned at Krovar, equipped with T-14 Armata, BMP-3M, and Pandur II 8×8; provides capital defence and a strategic reserve
- The Guards Airborne Regiment — an elite airborne formation under Guard command, drawn from the Royal Airborne Corps lineage
- The Royal Mounted Cavalry Detachment — ceremonial mounted detachment at Krovar Palace in late-Tsarist hussar uniforms; performs daily palace duty
The Guard officers are by tradition drawn from across all social classes — the regiments are not a closed nobility — but service in the Guard is considered one of the highest honours of the Choktovakian military and is intensely competitive.
Royal Army Aviation Command¶
Headquartered at Krovar-Yug, Royal Army Aviation operates the rotary-wing combat and lift force:
- Attack Helicopter Regiments — Ka-52 "Alligator" and Mi-28NM "Havoc"; Mi-24V in legacy-reserve formations
- Transport Helicopter Regiments — Mi-17 "Hip" medium and Mi-26 "Halo" heavy lift
- Reconnaissance and Liaison Squadrons — Mi-8MTPR and supporting types
Special operations (Royal Joint Special Operations Command — Army element)¶
The Royal Choktovakian Special Forces (Strike Force) are the Army-component element of the Royal Joint Special Operations Command (RJSOC) — approximately 3,500 personnel organised into four regional Strike Brigades, each preserving historical Cossack-pattern shoulder boards:
| Brigade | Orientation |
|---|---|
| 1st Strike Brigade "Western" | Direct action, deep reconnaissance; Western MD orientation |
| 2nd Strike Brigade "Central" | Strategic-reserve SOF; Krovar based |
| 3rd Strike Brigade "Eastern" | Eastern MD orientation; maritime SOF cross-training |
| 4th Strike Brigade "Northern" | Boreal operations specialty |
A dedicated Strike Force Aviation Regiment (Mi-8MTPR special-ops variants, Ka-226, special-operations UAS) provides organic mobility. See Armed Forces — Special Operations for the joint RJSOC context covering Naval Strike Force and Air-Assault Reconnaissance.
Current operational posture (late 2026)¶
| Front | Commitment | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Western frontier (Black Mountain / CSAT axes) | I Western Army (full) + Western Front supporting elements | Heightened defensive posture since 2026; periodic mobilisation exercises; quiet but tense |
| Central reserve | II Central Army + Royal Guard Corps | Strategic reserve; one Airborne Division forward-postured to Western MD as response option |
| Northern frontier | III Northern Army | Quiet; standard arctic-rotation cycle |
| Eastern littoral | IV Eastern Army | Quiet; presence operations supporting Eastern Fleet |
| Continuation War (2026–) | RJSOC liaison only | SNAM non-aligned; no commitment beyond observation |
The Army's principal effort is defensive-posture maintenance on the western frontier. SNAM non-alignment in the Continuation War has constrained the Army from any offensive commitment; the Royal Airborne Corps and Royal Air-Assault Corps are held in strategic reserve as response option pending political direction from the Crown.
Recruitment and training¶
The Royal Choktovakian Army's manpower model:
- Universal male conscription at age 18; two-year active service; constitutionally entrenched and culturally robust
- Reserve obligation through age 45; all conscripts remain on the rolls as ready reservists
- Volunteer enlistment open to women (~8% of the active force as of 2026 and rising); preferred in technical specialties
- Officer recruitment through the Royal Military Academy at Konigsgrad (Army), the principal land-service commissioning institution; senior staff training through the Krovar War College
- NCO recruitment through dedicated NCO academies after initial conscript service
The training pipeline produces competent peer-tier personnel across the conscript force, with the Royal Airborne Corps, Royal Air-Assault Corps, Royal Guard, and Strike Brigades drawing the highest-quality volunteer cadre.
Combat doctrine¶
Royal Choktovakian Army doctrine is modern Eastern-bloc-pattern combined-arms manoeuvre at peer-power scale:
- Echelon-deep armoured formations — successive armoured echelons capable of sustained operational depth across the western steppe
- Combined-arms integration at the tactical level — armour, mechanised infantry, self-propelled artillery, and rotary aviation in tightly-coordinated tactical groupings
- Operational manoeuvre — exploitation by deep-reaching armoured formations through breakthrough points achieved by leading echelons
- Counter-armour specialisation — significant investment in anti-tank capability across all arms, reflecting the doctrinal assumption that the principal future war will be armour-on-armour
- Strategic air-mobile reserve — the Royal Airborne and Air-Assault Corps as the Crown's strategic-response capability
Doctrinal influence draws on the modern Eastern-bloc Ground Forces' 2030+ baseline but operates at peer-power scale rather than current Russia's degraded posture, with substantial Tsarist-imperial regimental tradition preserved through the Royal Guard and the Strike Brigade lineages.
Equipment¶
The Royal Choktovakian Army is principally domestically produced at peer-tier quality, with the T-14 Armata mass-produced at Krov Heavy Industries as the signature land-system. See Equipment for full treatment. Key categories:
